Seed Treatment with ?-Tocopherol Regulates Growth and Key Physio-Biochemical Attributes in Carrot (Daucus carota L.) Plants under Water Limited Regimes

چکیده
The influence of seed priming with varying levels (50 and 100 mg L?1) alpha-tocopherol (Toc) was investigated in carrot plants under water-deficit conditions. For this purpose, two cultivars carrot, DC4 DC90, were selected subjected to well-watered (100% field capacity (FC)) stress (50% FC). After 21 days conditions, a significant suppression observed shoot root fresh dry weights, their lengths, chlorophyll a, b total contents, soluble proteins (TSP). However, an up-regulatory effect water on the concentrations glycinebetaine (GB), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), malondialdehyde (MDA), ascorbic acid (AsA), phenolics as well activities catalase (CAT) peroxidase (POD) enzymes. Exogenous application effective reducing accumulation H2O2 MDA contents improving all growth attributes, chlorophyll, proline, GB, AsA, phenolics, TSP, CAT POD Of both cultivars, cv. had better performance terms whereas response similar other attributes regimes. Overall, it is suggested that L?1 Toc plant osmoprotectants oxidative defense system

Guaiacol Peroxidases in Carrot (Daucus carota L.) Root**
Carrot (Daucus carota L.) belongs to the group of common edible vegetables. The aim of the present study was to establish the distribution of guaiacol peroxidases in carrot root sections as well as to determine the enzymatic activity and the electrophoretic pattern of isoperoxidases in tissue extracts of particular root regions: central cylinder, inner cortex and epidermis, including the periph...
متن کاملCharacterization of Inositol Phosphates in Carrot (Daucus carota L.) Cells.
We have shown previously that inositol-1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP(3)) stimulates an efflux of (45)Ca(2+) from fusogenic carrot protoplasts (M Rincón, WF Boss [1987] Plant Physiol 83: 395-398). In light of these results, we suggested that IP(3) might serve as a second messenger for the mobilization of intracellular Ca(2+) in higher plant cells. To determine whether or not IP(3) and other inositol p...
متن کاملInositol Trisphosphate Metabolism in Carrot (Daucus carota L.) Cells.
The metabolism of exogenously added d-myo-[1-(3)H]inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP(3)) has been examined in microsomal membrane and soluble fractions of carrot (Daucus carota L.) cells grown in suspension culture. When [(3)H]IP(3) was added to a microsomal membrane fraction, [(3)H]IP(2) was the primary metabolite consisting of approximately 83% of the total recovered [(3)H] by paper electrophor...
متن کاملPervasive Mitochondrial Sequence Heteroplasmy in Natural Populations of Wild Carrot, Daucus carota spp. carota L
Exceptions to the generally accepted rules that plant mitochondrial genomes are strictly maternally inherited and that within-individual sequence diversity in those genomes, i.e., heteroplasmy, should be minimal are becoming increasingly apparent especially with regard to sequence-level heteroplasmy. These findings raise questions about the potential significance of such heteroplasmy for plant ...
متن کاملBiofortification of Carrot (Daucus carota L.) with Iodine and Selenium in a Field Experiment
The low content of iodine (I) and selenium (Se) forms available to plants in soil is one of the main causes of their insufficient transfer in the soil-plant-consumer system. Their deficiency occurs in food in the majority of human and farm animal populations around the world. Both elements are classified as beneficial elements. However, plant response to simultaneous fertilization with I and Se...
